Job description
The Data and Digital Branch (D&D) supports the National Archives of Australia (NAA) in meeting its vision and reaching its strategic goals through services, technology, infrastructure, software, security and governance of its information assets to secure and protect against all security threats. It is also responsible for assisting Australian Government agencies to fulfil the National Archives’ data and information management requirements.
The Emerging Technology & Business Engagement (ET&BE) Section provides supporting capabilities to enable the National Archives to achieve its future digital objectives. The section also engages with business areas to deliver successful outcomes under the Work Take On process, provides the first contact point for internal staff for all non-standard D&D matters and is the conduit between the National Archives business areas and D&D Branch. The ET&BE section also supports the D&D Branch with project management and solution architecture capabilities.
Under broad direction the main duties of the role are to:
Lead a comprehensive Strategic Partnerships program in collaboration with business areas, that evaluates and implements ICT changes aligned with the strategic direction of the Archives.
Utilising well-developed problem solving and business analysis skills, identify and evaluate emerging hardware and software technologies and products that support NAA strategies, assessing their relevance and potential risk.
Manage the Work Take On process for Data & Digital Non-Standard Requests utilising contemporary project and business analysis methodologies, tools and techniques such as agile, user centred design, DevOps etc. You will collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand and define their needs, develop appropriate business processes and solution requirements documentation, and implement solutions that meet business needs and compliance requirements.
Manage, coach, and develop Business Analysts within the section; build capability and deliver the section’s strategic and business objectives.
Manage and facilitate workshops and discussions with relevant areas to enable gathering of information related to the business functions, processes and activities within their domain.
Build and maintain effective relationships and engagements with strategic vendors, industry, other government agencies and internal stakeholders to realise opportunities to implement smart technology choices for National Archives.
Promote and apply the APS and National Archives values and contemporary people management principles and practices in diversity, workplace health and safety and participative management.
Implement, promote and apply the National Archives’ Vision, Mission and Commitments as expressed in Strategy 2030 and Our Values.
Experience and or qualifications in information technology, project management or related fields is desirable.
Eligibility: To be eligible for the role you must be an Australian citizen. If you are selected, you will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Baseline clearance level.
