Job Description:
The Assistant Director will lead a business unit to deliver high quality procurement advisory services to ACT Public Service and the Community.
The functions of the unit include responding formally to specific procurement related questions/enquiries and supporting the Tenders ACT platform
Responsibilities:
- Supervise staff members to provide the procurement enablement services to the ACT Public Service and the public
- Provide leadership to uplift capability so the team can provide expert guidance on procurement processes
- Assist stakeholders in navigating procurement decisions; ensuring compliance with legislation and the pursuit of value for money
- Provide timely and accurate responses to queries, proactive problem solving, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders
- Act as an expert to provide advice for more complex procurement matters.
- Provide quality assurance on work output.
- Design, develop and implement business processes and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the unit - including maintaining system security and alignment with the procurement framework
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
The role suits a person with comprehensive procurement experience across the lifecycle of government procurement, who is looking to build on their leadership experience and progress their career
- 3-5 years of experience in a government procurement or related field; preferably across the full lifecycle of procurement
- Knowledge of the ACT Government procurement framework
- Understanding of procurement regulation, governance and processes
- Relevant tertiary qualifications would be highly desired, for example, Certificate IV in Government (Procurement & Contracting) or an Advanced Diploma of Government (Procurement & Contracting)
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and diverse strategic business partnerships; including with stakeholders
- Understanding of public service values covering ethical standards and a demonstrated self-awareness, professionalism
- Experience managing or guiding staff an advantage (not essential)
