Job description
This position supports the Manager, Financial Accounting and Reporting to provide high quality financial leadership and support. Key focus areas include grant funded project reporting, donation and sponsorships reporting, transaction accuracy, financial reporting and analysis, capital project reporting and policy compliance.
As a key part of the Financial Services team, this role has an internal and operational focus with respect to relevant, reliable and timely financial advice and reporting.
Key accountabilities include:
Completing month end reporting, assisting with maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, preparing the gift register and partnering with business areas to ensure consistency and accuracy of reports and fixed asset records.
Assisting with maintaining STRATA Student Management System hotkeys in a timely manner ensuring the accurate recording of revenue.
Processing general journals as required, including partnering with the business to identify any reallocation journals.
Assisting with the preparation of Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) return and other tax related reporting requirements as required.
Preparing complete and accurate external financial reports, ensuring compliance with reporting obligations, including (but not limited to) Annual Financial Statements, Whole of Government Reporting.
Assisting with external auditor requests, including the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office on all relevant financial policy and reporting matters.
Assisting with preparation of the FBT return and ensure lodgement as and when due, liaising with the Australian Taxation Office and other taxation authorities as and when required.
ABOUT YOU
You will be degree qualified in Business or Commerce, majoring in Accounting and have commenced or completed a CPA or CA program. You will have the following skills and experience:
Demonstrated experience with applying financial accounting standards
Experience with complex financial systems such as Finance One and strong Excel skills
High-level written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to plan and prioritise work load to achieve deadlines with minimal supervision
High order organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise judgment
Experience in revenue and asset accounting (desirable)
