About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the team in our Launceston office. This role supports the finance team and the wider business in the development of accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services, the role's responsibilities will include:
Finance
- Preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including intercompany balances
- Assist in preparation of monthly management reports, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cashflow within designated timeframes.
- Assist in preparation of supporting working papers for annual financial statements and taxation returns
- Completion of weekly bank reconciliations
- Ad hoc financial analysis as required
- Monitor accounts receivable/payable and work with key stakeholders within the business and operational departments to ensure all outstanding accounts are collected/paid within agreed terms
- Assist in maintenance of accounting and tax fixed assets registers for all entities
- Support external audits including preparing documentation, answering queries and coordinating responses from other TWC staff
- Adhere to applicable internal controls including internal audit reporting
Payroll & Labour
- Prepare the fortnightly payroll cycle, including processing of timesheets and payment of all payroll related items including wages, superannuation and associated taxes. Provide a reconciliation of wages fortnightly, and assist in explaining significant variances to budget.
- Assist the Management Accountant in ensuring correct reporting of labour costs and associated on-costs, including undertaking various tasks as instructed such as Payroll journal preparation and reconciling related balance sheet and control accounts
- Collaborate with the People & Culture Advisor to ensure efficient systems are implemented in the company Human Resources Information System
The ideal candidate for this key role will have the following skills and experience:
- 2 – 3 years’ experience in an accounting role, including experience in processing payroll
- Knowledge, skills and experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Microsoft Excel) and varied accounting software
- Tertiary qualification (degree or diploma in an accounting discipline)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail including delivering to agreed timelines
- Proven ability to simultaneously manage a number of competing priorities and activities in a fast-paced environment
