Position Information

Glenorie Public School is located in Regional North and has a student enrolment of 289, including one Multi-Category support unit class. Students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds with 2% of students identifying as Aboriginal and 16% from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background. Extra-curricular opportunities in sport, Italian, STEM, and creative and performing arts enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences. The school culture is that of connectedness, inclusion and belonging with students, staff, parents and the wider community working together to promote school excellence.


Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with demonstrated exemplary teaching practice and the capacity to effectively balance the dual roles of classroom teacher and the complex responsibilities of an Assistant Principal.

Proven ability to lead the implementation of new syllabus reforms, inspiring and mentoring experienced and beginning teachers in implementation of high quality, differentiated literacy and numeracy strategies, using data informed practices to maximise student outcomes.

An engaging leader with the ability to work collaboratively to build the capacity of staff through identifying and leading differentiated high impact professional learning to improve student outcomes with a strong emphasis on evidence-informed effective teaching practices.

A visible and committed leader with demonstrated capacity to strengthen and sustain initiatives and processes that support student wellbeing and high-level student engagement through the implementation of whole school and classroom based practices.


General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
