Step into a pivotal role with a flourishing family-run enterprise, passionately dedicated to trading & backgrounding cattle for the feeder market in the heart of Central QLD. With a proud legacy and a commitment to excellence, our client boasts a substantial herd of approximately 6000 cattle across three expansive properties, encompassing 35,000 acres of Blue Ribbon country. Our client is on the lookout for an ambitious Assistant Station Manager to help spearhead operations at their main backgrounding property. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with owner to plan and execute weekly operations, including land and livestock management.
- Ensure efficiency and productivity of daily operations, while fostering a positive work culture.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the property and cattle work, with musteringcompeleted on horses only
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety in all aspects of operation.
- Requirement sometime to travel to neighboring properties for mustering when necessary.
Qualifications
- Excellent animal husbandry skills.
- A passion for the beef industry.
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute day-to-day operations.
- This role will require a high level of autonomy and the ability to work independently
- Experienced in stock data recording and reporting.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Skilled horse-riding ability; ownership of horses and working dog is a bonus, with limits on numbers.
- Competent machinery operation and general maintenance skills.
- Current driver’s license.
- Current Firearms license.
- MR license highly favorable.
- Welding skills.
