We focus on bringing together the collective intelligence of our different people to help deliver better solutions to complex problems, and ultimately achieve better urban outcomes for our community. Our towns and cities are always changing and we know this creates choices that can make a difference to the quality of our urban living.

We have a vibrant, enthusiastic and highly skilled team of professionals that love what they do and who get excited about planning and development, and we’re looking to grow that team by adding new like-minded people. At Ethos Urban you will have opportunities to work on the most exciting city shaping projects on offer, with great colleagues and with the most high-profile clients in the industry.

We are currently seeking a Associate Director to join our highly engaged team of urban development professionals. This role will suit a dynamic and passionate individual looking to take the next step in their professional career.

Our ideal candidate for this role will have planning experience working within the private or public sector. They will have an outcomes-oriented attitude, excellent client liaison skills, be a team player, and have a passion for working in a high performing organisation.

Key responsibilities

As an Associate Director, you will:

  • Exceptional external facing presence and ability to generate new work.
  • A key focus will be nurturing client relationships and delivering high quality solutions as a Project Manager or Project Director on significant projects.
  • Manage large scale projects as a Project Manager and be able to provide oversight of multiple projects while developing the skills of others.
  • May also undertake a front-line management role, where you will learn the necessary skills to lead multi-disciplinary teams, deliver a variety of work across our sales pipeline and manage client and other stakeholder expectations.

  • You will also be supported to contribute to the strategic agenda and participate in company annual business planning and development.
  • Have a developed industry profile, network of clients, and substantial industry experience with extensive knowledge of contemporary urban development issues.
  • Work collaboratively across a wide range of projects and services within the organisation’s diversified portfolios as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Further enhance your project management capabilities and enhance your ability to work with relevant policy and legislation, as well as understand and address contemporary issues within the urban development industry.

We are looking for an experienced Associate Director who has:

  • Excellent writing skills, who can draft efficiently, write accurate and comprehensive reports and prepare external correspondence.
  • A professional commitment to striving for excellence.

Why work with us?

The business of creating a better urban experience is a complex one. It requires patience, diligence, intelligence and perhaps most importantly, a passion for making a difference to our experience of urban life.

What we do and the way that we do it is unique. We view each project as a complex puzzle that requires different perspectives and alternative angles to solve it. At Ethos Urban, no one individual ever has the answer. It’s only when we bring people with different specialisations from different teams that we can see the full picture and then the way forward. We call it collective intelligence.

We continue to hire great people with a diversity of skills, experience and backgrounds. This includes people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people identifying as LGBTIQ+, culturally and linguistically diverse people, carers and other diversity groups. We encourage applicants from any background to apply to join Ethos Urban!

We have adopted the globally recognised United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as our ESG framework. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) is a clearly defined pathway to improving our world, and how business can align its goals and actions to help us all collectively get there.
