Job description

Associate Director, Treasury
Job no: 792635
Business unit: Finance
Primary position location: 395 Bourke St, Melbourne, VIC
Work type: Permanent Full time
Region: VIC- Melbourne CBD
You're encouraged to experiment and find out where you excel
Work in a collaborative and inclusive team environment
Standout opportunity to join Group Treasury
It's more than a career at NAB. It's about more opportunity, more moments to make a difference and more focus on you.
Your job is just one part of your life. When you bring your ideas, energy, and hunger for growth to us, you'll be recognised and rewarded for your contribution in return. You'll have our support to excel for our customers, deliver positive change for our communities and grow your career.
It's a good time to see what more you can find as an Associate Director in our Treasury External Reporting team within Group Treasury. As the Group's asset, liability and equity balances (lending, investments, funding instruments, derivatives etc) impact on reporting under Treasury's accountability, this role provides an opportunity to have valuable exposure to and overview of the Group's balance sheet. Other functions prepare various reports which are provided to an external audience (regulators, rating agencies and published on NAB's external website) and the role of the Treasury External Reporting is to challenge the content of these reports. The Treasury External Reporting team covers regulatory capital, liquidity, operational risk risk-weighted assets and interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB).
In this role you will focus on review of liquidity reporting, in particular the liquidity coverage ratio (LCR) and net stable funding ratio (NSFR). Specific experience with liquidity reporting is not required, provided you have a keen interest in how NAB's Treasury function manages this risk and the related reporting.
Key Responsibilities include:
Review of quarterly liquidity information in regulatory returns and other external disclosures. This includes preparing reconciliations to other reporting, and presenting at walkthrough meetings.
Deep dives between reporting periods into reported amounts, and providing insights to uplift the reporting process.
Interpretation of liquidity reporting treatment in the event of change, such as new regulatory requirements or other changes like acquisitions or new product offerings.
Your Skills and Experience
As the role involves review of financial information, an accounting background (such as qualification as a CA or CPA) is preferred.
Ability to analyse regulatory requirements (such as experience with APRA Prudential and Reporting Standards or Accounting Standards), and professional judgement regarding areas that could have differing interpretations.
Proficiency in data interrogation is advantageous, as sourcing relevant data for investigation means that queries can be resolved independently rather than on relying on investigation by others.
Ability to identify potential issues and communicate/escalate as necessary.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong inter-personal skills in order to develop relationships and influence stakeholders, as well as train, direct, motivate and develop more junior members of the team.
Strong organisational skills to ensure work is performed within the requirement timeframe.
Willingness to challenge the status quo, identify weaknesses and different ways of doing things, and decide on areas of uplift that are achievable.
5-10 years practical experience is an expectation at the Associate Director level.
Skills for this role may have been acquired from external audit experience with a professional accounting firm, including accounting experience and professional scepticism in reviewing reports.
By joining NAB, you are committing to putting our customers' needs first every time. You will be ambitious for growth; always curious and learning from colleagues. You will speak honestly, always valuing the time and opinion of others. You will own your work, doing what's right, even when it's hard.
A diverse and inclusive workplace works better for everyone.
At NAB, we're intent on building a culture we can all be proud of. One based on trust and respect. An uplifting environment where every single one of us feels appreciated and empowered to be our true, authentic selves. A diverse and inclusive workplace where our differences are celebrated, and our contributions are valued. It's a huge part of what makes NAB such a special place to be.
More focus on you
We're committed to delivering a positive experience for our colleagues and a workplace you can be proud of. We support our colleagues to balance their careers and personal life through flexible working arrangements such as hybrid working and job sharing and competitive financial and lifestyle benefits. We invest in our colleagues through world class development programs (Distinctive Leadership and Career Qualified in Banking), and empower you to learn, grow and pursue exciting career opportunities.
