Associate Nurse Unit Manager – Macalister Unit (Aged Care Inpatient Mental Health)

Latrobe Regional Health is the main provider of Mental Health services across the Gippsland region.  Our Macalister Unit currently has opportunity for an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join the team on a part time, fixed term basis until July 2024.

The Macalister Unit cares for people over the age of 65 with mental health or behavioural issues. The unit has 10 acute assessment beds and 10 nursing home beds for people with complex needs.

We're looking for candidates who are passionate about mental health, playing a key role in leading a multidisciplinary team.

Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) you will provide leadership support with the clinical and administrative management of the Macalister Unit, ensuring the achievement of quality patient outcomes are achieved. 

Our ideal candidate will:

• Be a Division 3 Registered Nurse or Division 1 Registered Nurse with post basic qualifications in psychiatric nursing (working towards), holding current registration with AHPRA
• Have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in inpatient mental health, with aged care experience highly desirable
• Have prior experience in and an understanding of managing a shift and ward, including when out of hours
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
