About the Role
The Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in Hockey Australia’s High Performance unit. Reporting into the Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement Manager, they will support the delivery of wellbeing services to both the men’s and women’s teams, focused on helping them thrive at every stage of their hockey career and assisting in the maintenance of a supportive team culture.
Key Accountabilities

• Assistance in delivery of the right support to athletes to:

• maintain a healthy blend of hockey and life commitments
• make a positive transition into life after sport
• communicate authentically and positively about their life experiences in sport and transition into life after sport
• Engage in ongoing professional development specifically the areas of mental health, wellbeing, athlete conduct and safety and protection, education, career mapping and transition within the context of the high-performance environment
• Assist with athlete relocation into and out of the Perth DTE
• Establish and maintain connection with the Elite Athlete Education Network to support athletes studying at institutions Australia wide
• In consultation with the National Pathways Manager and the National Pathways Technical Leads, deliver education and wellbeing sessions to Hockey Australia pathways athletes and parents
• Provide support to the Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement Manager in the delivery of the Hockey Australia AW&E Health Check Action Plan
• Engage with Hockey Alumni to support them in maintaining a connection with Hockey Australia and provide referral to support services where needed
• Coordinate requests for athlete appearances with the Revenue and Digital & Communication teams

Remuneration
Hockey Australia will offer a $70,000 - $80,000 remuneration package including superannuation dependent upon the successful applicant's skills and experience.
Experience, Skills and Attributes

• Tertiary qualification in education, career counselling, mental health, business, sports management, or equivalent
• Significant experience in and/or comprehensive understanding of the Australian sport system, in particular High Performance
• Sound understanding of the link between wellbeing and performance and how wellbeing underpins high-performance sport
• High level experience guiding and supporting people through various transition, educational and career pathways
• Contemporary knowledge of issues impacting mental health and wellbeing and experience with implementing best practice support
• Ability in developing and maintaining trust-based relationships in high pressure environments
