Coburg RSL is one of the oldest RSL clubs in Victoria. We have clubrooms on Sydney Road in Coburg that consist of two large bar / function areas anchored by a U-Shaped bar and a beer garden. We have a small domestic style kitchen currently operated part time by a separate company under our Food Licence and available for use when functions booked. We also have two full sized snooker tables and a meeting space accessible by stairs. The venue regularly runs live music each weekend, and has a loyal membership. We are an RSL sub-branch, and as such are administered by a committee – with our President being functional lead. Our current hours of operation are part-time (Wed – Fri 5-late, Sat 1-7 and Sun 1-6). We do allow for function or event bookings outside of those times.
Role Summary:
The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations in the bar including:
- staff management and rostering,
- customer service and beverage/bar sales,
- staff training and supervision,
- Stock ordering and planning,
- Cleanliness of bar and patron areas to requirements of venue and regulations,
- Tidiness of RSL Memorabilia and of venue facilities
- responding to & arranging event and function bookings,

Hours/Times/Wages
The position is considered to be permanent part-time, currently with an average rostered time of 30hrs per week. However, the committee are happy to discuss other potential arrangements, such as contracted full-time, which would mean more hours per week. This would include shifts during most opening hours, plus onsite attendance during non-operation hours to clean tap lines, receive stock deliveries, and other necessary duties. As such, the position would likely best suit someone who lives convenient to the venue or is happy to travel to the venue for short periods outside of operating hours.
Wages are based on the award rate for Food and Bar Attendant Level 5 ($27.83 per hour) up to Level 7 Level A Manager ($29.29 per hour) depending on experience and/or qualifications, plus penalty loading for Sundays and Public Holidays where applicable under a permanent part-time role.
