The Opportunity:
Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for Mining Engineersin Training (EIT) to join our team at the Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario.
- Rotation is 14-shifts on / 14-shifts off. (FIFO/DIDO)
Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and the safety of their co-workers while supporting continuous improvement and mine optimization projects geared towards achieving key performance targets.
More specifically, our EIT’s will:
• Spend time completing underground operational rotations, exposing yourselves to:
- Underground haulage fleet operation and management
- Underground development cycle operation and management
- Exposure to bolt, mesh, bore cycling with jumbo drills
- Underground services and construction crew
- Development and production blasting
- Longhole operation
• Exposure to site financial and commercial operations
• Prepare monthly contractor claims and reports
• Manage databases and conduct self-managed continuous improvement projects on site
• Provide support for analysis and data visualization
• Assist short range planning department as required
Skills and Experience:
• Commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others
• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
• Underground Mining experience is considered an asset
• Strong analytical skills with strong organizational, time management and communication abilities
• Experience with PowerBI and relational databases is considered an asset
• Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Deswik is considered an asset
• Willingness to gain underground operational experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team and independently
• Valid Driver’s license
• Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
