As a highly respected and market leading Profit for Purpose organisation, today they are in growth and is looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Team Leader into their NSW flagship site in Parramatta. The BSP and Team Leader role provides direct specialist assessment and intervention services in the field of behaviour support to NDIS funded clients.
The role supports service delivery providers, within and external to our client, to provide safe, quality services to people with complex support needs. Your team members, the BSP’s, may also be involved in indirect supports, for example provision of advice, reviews and training/ development activities for our client’s staff.
Your task is to build the SW Sydney based site by leveraging off your existing client base, then building a team around you, to support clients in SW Sydney and assist each individual to build a pathway to possibility.
You will be responsible for the operational management and financial performance of the team, and developing the team you built to excellence.

What you will bring to the role:
  • Tertiary qualifications and where applicable clinical registration in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Developmental Education or Applied Behaviour Analysis.
  • You will be endorsed as Proficient Practitioner Capability
  • Have a contemporary attitude in disability practice which focuses on a human rights framework. Provide supportive leadership including mentoring of Practitioners at a Core, Developing Core and Suitable level.
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience of contemporary practices, trends and philosophies in relation to service provision for people who display challenging behaviours
  • Understanding the role of the Quality and Safeguards Commission and the Rules and Practice Standards as they apply to Behaviour Support.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, develop and retain a behaviour support practitioner workforce.
  • Experience in a relevant area of practice in relation to people who exhibit challenging behaviours.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training and support to staff in positive behaviour support.
  • Sound problem solving skills
  • Relevant qualification and training in delivery of Positive Behaviour Support specialised services (eligible for NDIS registration).
  • Understanding of the NDIS Commission Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices requirements
  • Experience assessing the need for and level of Positive Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices for Individuals accessing NDIS services
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, educate and inspire as you provide advice, support, coaching & mentoring to managers and staff in particular in PCAS and PBS
  • Experience in completing functional behaviour analysis and writing positive behaviour support plans
  • Knowledge of the recovery oriented, strengths-based, client-centred and ethical decision-making frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports based on qualitative and quantitative outcomes.
  • Ability to work within spreadsheet functions and electronic client management systems.
  • Open C class driver’s licence
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Build your client network and action referrals to service the community and generate billable hours, then build a person-centered team around you to continue the community support
  • Support your team to demonstrate the Quality Indicators as defined in the Quality and Safeguards Commission Practice Standards.
  • Provide guidance and leadership including mentoring of Practitioner, which also includes setting SMART goals and delivering constructive feedback
  • Monitor performance of BSP’s to ensure metrics and targets are met and report against forecasted revenue targets
  • Develop partnerships with service providers, community agencies, and government bodies to maximise outcomes for clients.
  • Lead by example by driving a positive and inclusive culture
  • Focus on continuous improvement with regular SWOT analysis of the services provided
  • Deliver funded specialist services for ‘capacity building’ under NDIS plans to internal and external clients- including specialist positive behaviour support and allied health. This includes ability to deliver services in accordance with the requirements of the NDIS Practice Standards.
  • Provide support for complex case reviews and critical incident reviews as needed.
  • Develop, maintain, and build linkages and establish referral pathways with appropriate external contacts including NDIA and other community service providers
  • Roster all services provided to ensure best use of billable hours
