Job description

Are you an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner looking for a new and exciting opportunity? Look no further than Distinct Directions!

We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Senior Behaviour Support Practitioners and Team Leaders in Orange, NSW.

About us

Distinct Directions is an Allied Health Practice working across a number of service sectors including Forensic, Disability and Mental Health. As a broad provider, we work with clients with a variety of needs and challenges. We have a company philosophy for staff that is based on continuous growth and development - we want to work with you to become the clinician that you want to be. We have several treatment modalities that are employed as well as different service types ranging from small group programs, individual therapy, Behaviour Support implementation and corporate consulting. With a range of senior clinicians, the supervision and support program is extensive to ensure that staff are supported to develop their skills. We work with staff to develop a reasonable balance of direct client work, administrative time and development time to ensure that we continue to provide a place to work that is positive and stimulating - without being overly stressful.

We strongly recognise competency-based learning and would encourage people without formal degree qualifications but significant experience in Behaviour Support to contact us.

  • Completing comprehensive behaviour assessments and support plans and ensuring all strategies relate to the functional analysis and meet the assessed needs of individuals (i.e., having a small caseload to continue to develop your practical experience).
  • Reviewing your team’s practical and written behaviour services aligning with the client’s goals and with quality standards.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of Behaviour Support plans (i.e., understanding data collection and analysis to best effect a client’s quality of life).
  • Collaborating with other professionals and stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to support the Management and Development of developing clinicians
  • Reporting on Outcomes to Management
  • Performance Guidance and Management of your team
Senior Behaviour Support Practitioners

If you're a Senior Practitioner but Team Leading isn't what you're interested in right now, we'd love to speak with you about other options that are available. We are always looking for experienced practitioners to join our team across each of our locations (Bathurst, Orange & Dubbo).

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Completing comprehensive behaviour assessments and support plans and ensuring all strategies relate to the functional analysis and meet the assessed needs of individuals (i.e., having a small caseload to continue to develop your practical experience).
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and support teams to implement Behaviour Support plans effectively and provide training and guidance to stakeholders on recommended strategies.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of Behaviour Support plans (i.e., understanding data collection and analysis to best effect a client’s quality of life).
  • Collaborating with other professionals (both internally and externally) and stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with office procedures and industry best practices.

To be successful in these roles, you will have:

  • Significant demonstrated experience in providing person-centred Behaviour Support to adults and children with complex disabilities.
  • Significant demonstrated experience in behaviour assessment, planning and implementing behaviour strategies that improve the client’s quality of life.
  • Excellence in communication, self-direction and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in managing teams (Team Leader).
  • The ability to work autonomously, meet required timeframes and importantly contribute positively to the Distinct Directions team.
  • Academic achievements relating to the health, social services or management fields or demonstrated workplace experience in similar roles.

Benefits
  • Strong Supportive Administrative Team.
  • Support of hugely experienced senior practitioners.
  • Total salary negotiable with experience.
  • Negotiation on salary packages to include other benefits such as Study Leave, Parental Leave, Accommodation or other benefits.
