About Brain Injury SA
For more than thirty years, Brain Injury SA (BISA) has worked to address the needs of people living with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in South Australia by providing services, support and advocacy.
Operationg as a not-for-profit organisation, BISA's team of over 45 staff works across three hub locations to delivery on its vision to embrace life after brain injury. Each year, BISA assists over 500 individuals and their families.
BISA has experienced exciting growth over the last five years, doubling the number of clients it supports and continues to look for new opportunities to deliver on its vision.
About the Positions
As the organisation prepares to embark on a new strategic planning cycle in 2025 -2027, its an exciting time to join the passionate, committed and skills based Board as several members approach the end of their tenure.
BISA seeks to fill two Board vacancies and is particularly interested in applicants with Philanthropy/Fundraising and NDIS Service Delivery skills and experience.
As a Board Director, you will be responsible for providing governance and oversight of BISA's operations in accordance with the law and constitution of the organisation. Specifically this will include assisting with the overall performance of the Board, setting strategic direction, providing insights to relevant subcommittees, and working collaboratively with other Board members, the Chair and the Organisation's CEO.
About the People
A genuine affinity with BISA's purpose and vision, complemented by compassion, authenticity, and commercial acumen, are considered essential qualities to bring to the Board.
We seek an experienced Board Member and/or Executive(s) with a successful track record, ideally with exposure to the Not for Profit, Disability, Health, or Aged Care sectors. We welcome applicants with lived experience of brain injury or with the ability to demonstrate an appreciation of the issues impacting the brain injury community.
Board Member Criteria:
- Prior Board and/or Committee experience is preferred.
- Availability to attend Board meetings (10 per year), attendance of BISA events and Board Committees where required.
- Demonstrated skills in strategic leadership, commercial acumen and change management.
- Relevant governance qualifications (AICD) will be highly regarded.
- Commitment to good governance practices, collaborative leadership and alignment with the vision and values or BISA.
This role is not currently remunerated; however, all related expenses will be paid.
