Job description

Business Initiatives is a Financial Services firm that provides expert, proactive advice in the areas of Accounting, Taxation, SMSF, Loans and Financial Planning. In addition, we undertake services for some ASX listed companies.

We are seeking a full-time Bookkeeper who has a minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience in bookkeeping for an accounting firm or a range of different industries.

We take an inclusive approach with our clients and form strong relationships with them over many years. There is a significant level of client contact with the role.

We are early adopters of new technology and have worked in a paperless environment for many years.

Our office environment is fun and easy going. Everyone is autonomous and takes responsibility for their tasks within the team. The work is varied, interesting and challenging.

We are located in Norwood in a quiet street on the fringe of the CBD, not far from The Parade. There is plenty of free parking.

The successful candidate will exhibit the following attributes:

  • experience with Xero and MYOB is an advantage

Working closely with our Accounting Manager you will be responsible for the following tasks;

  • Bookkeeping for our Accounting division clients;
  • Reconciliation of data in Xero for a variety of clients and industries;
  • Preparation of journal entries to reconcile balance sheet items;
  • Preparation and lodgement of BAS & IAS on a monthly and quarterly basis;
  • Preparation and lodgement of TPAR, WorkCover & STP for clients;
  • Consolidation of consolidation financial accounts as required;
  • Liaising with clients in respect of their work, queries and documents required;
  • Liaising with various government departments and completing related documents;
  • Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office regarding client related matters as required;
  • Attend and contribute at regular internal training sessions and weekly staff meetings.

On the job training will be provided with real client files.

The role reports directly to the firm's Accounting Manager and Managing Director.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
