A newly created and unique opportunity to work in the engine room of a large regulatory team of compliance officers for a Major Local Government Authority. This is a broad-ranging role with diverse tasks and exposure across the entire directorate and in close connection with senior leadership. A little bit about the role
City of Boroondara is a leader in the Local Government sector and one of the nation’s most liveable municipal councils.
The Business and Policy Support Officer is a multi-disciplined administrator providing key support functions to the department leadership team and to our large team of officers. Situated in Council’s Civic Services department, our purpose is to serve the community and protect the amenity, safety and assets of City of Boroondara.
The Department is fast-paced and dynamic and will keep you on your toes but is supportive and filled with passionate and engaged people that pull together to deliver our service.
Reporting into a member of leadership being the Business and Policy Lead, key aspects of the role include:
Providing first-hand support and assistance to the Business and Policy (BP) Lead through delegation of work priorities as they occur.
Providing first-class customer service when dealing with all stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner.
Supporting senior leadership with key meetings through facilitation, agendas and minutes.
Providing project management support to key departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
CRM management for escalated matters relating to Councillors and the executive.
Data analysis and reporting.
Performing Invoicing including raising purchase orders, receipting goods and maintaining strong financial records.
Triage and allocation of various incoming enquires/reports from the community to various Teams.
Advocacy and quality assurance for the Civic Services Department on key legislative and auditing functions.

A ‘knack’ and drive for data reporting and analysis to help pickup trends and insights across the department’s activities.
Natural ability to manage personal time, to set priorities and plan and organise own work to efficiently complete tasks or achieve objectives within agreed time frames.
Excellent records management and Microsoft Office skills specifically EXCEL for the creation of spreadsheets and reports. Desired is the ability to produce templates and advanced PowerPoint presentations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability in writing accurate and comprehensive reports and correspondence.
A sound knowledge or ability to gain the knowledge of relevant Regulations and Council policies.
Relevant experience in a complex customer service/administrative environment both in person and over the phone, including proficiency in financial administration, preferably in local government or other statutory based environments.
