About the role:

The role of Business Applications Engineer involves providing vital support for core Business Applications and platforms crucial for the smooth operations of numerous independent schools across New South Wales.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Support:

  • Maintain and update key Business Applications, including Microsoft Dynamics CRM and SharePoint, to ensure their reliability, efficiency, and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external service requests and incident reports related to these applications, addressing issues and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Problem Resolution:

  • Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve problems efficiently, employing strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with vendor partners as necessary to escalate and resolve complex issues beyond the scope of internal support.

Training and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Provide training and guidance to the Service Desk team to enable them to effectively triage Level 1 requests related to Business Applications, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Share expertise and insights with colleagues to enhance collective understanding and proficiency in utilizing Business Applications effectively.

Configuration and Optimization:

  • Update configuration settings of Business Applications to align with evolving business requirements, ensuring that the systems remain adaptable and responsive to changing needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and interpret existing processes, leveraging this understanding to optimize application configurations and workflows for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.

Overflow Support and Additional Duties:

  • Offer overflow support for the ICT service desk to address more general IT requests, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to broader organizational needs.
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Chief Executive, contributing to the overall success and effectiveness of the organization’s technology initiatives.

These responsibilities collectively contribute to the Business Applications Engineer's role in maintaining the integrity, functionality, and usability of critical Business Applications, thereby supporting the organization's objectives and ensuring a seamless experience for users.

Requirements:

Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and SharePoint, with the ability to effectively administer and support these systems.
  • Familiarity with other relevant technologies, such as Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, Microsoft 365 (SharePoint Online and Teams), and Microsoft Power BI.

Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills to analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Capacity to interpret bespoke custom business processes and adapt technical configurations accordingly.

Prioritization Skills:

  • Experience in prioritizing service requests based on their impact and urgency, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and timely resolution of issues.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with colleagues, stakeholders, and vendor partners.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a team environment, sharing knowledge and insights to support collective success.

Adaptability and Learning Orientation:

  • Capacity to understand existing processes and interpret documentation, with a willingness to seek assistance and continuously learn and improve.
  • Ability to pick up and administer a wide range of Business Applications beyond the core systems, demonstrating adaptability and versatility.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive matters and personal information.

Customer Focus:

  • Proactive and customer-focused approach to addressing service requests and incident reports, ensuring a high level of satisfaction among users.

  • Full-time availability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
  • Capacity to work within a Sydney-based office environment and flexibility to accommodate support and maintenance requirements as needed.
