Business Banking Credit Risk Lead

In 2024 are you ready to make an impact in our business as in our Credit Risk Lead specialising in Business Banking?

You’ll work not only across ING Australia’s (IBAL) Credit Risk function, but also across the wider Risk Management department and the IBAL Senior Management team, including the Business Banking Tribe, Finance, and also at IBAL Credit Risk Committee. You will have regular interactions with IBAL EXCO and EXCO-1, in addition to engagements with key senior stakeholders in Amsterdam include ING Head of Global Retail Credit Risk, ING Head of Business Banking and other senior leaders within ING Group.

In this people management role, given its seniority and profile, you’ll enjoy mentoring and coaching within the Retail Credit Risk team specifically and within Risk Management function more broadly, and also within IBAL 1LOD.

As our Business Banking Credit Risk Lead, you’ll own Risk appetite and credit policy; and be involved in the implementation of policy and portfolio management aspects across the credit life cycle for IBAL’s Business Banking portfolios.  This will include all interactions with the 1LOD, interactions with European and Australian regulators, ING Group interactions and interactions with local stakeholders including Finance and Treasury.

What you’ll do
 

• Lead the Credit Risk contribution to the APRA IRB Prudential Reviews, APRA Model Governance & Validation Reviews, APRA Credit Risk Reviews and IRB Data Framework Reviews.
• Monitor portfolio performance for Business Banking portfolio including Credit Tests.
• Implement the Service and Decisioning rules in the existing Credit Decision Systems.
• Own and enhance the Business Banking Early Warning Framework.
• Provide key inputs for risk cost and loan loss provision activities, in addition to Collections oversight and Watch List management for Business Banking portfolios.
• Lead and manage key stakeholder interactions including with European and Australian regulators, ING Group and local stakeholders including Business Banking Tribe, Credit Ops, Finance and Treasury as required.
• Deliver on the continued uplift of the Credit Risk data management lifecycle and Governance including revised regulatory requirements in both Australian and within ING Group, for the Business Banking portfolios.   
• Engage with ING Australia Board, EXCO, and senior management / management committees as required.
• Explore, identify and anticipate new ways of Modelling - to improve risk decision; leveraging new data sources & methodologies, balancing client experience and effective risk & operational processes while developing credit scoring, credit analytics and non-regulatory models

What we’re looking for

• Expert level knowledge on prudential standards (capital, risk management)
• Superior proficiency with technical modelling principles for IRB Credit Risk models for regulatory and loan loss provisioning outputs
• Minimum 10-12 years post qualification experience in risk management within the Financial Services Industry. Experience in managing a fintech would be advantageous.

• Awareness and ability to act on legislation or regulatory changes and requirements

• Ability to act as managerial advisor on professional and technical issues with a view to reaching strategic decisions
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills at all levels

• An ability to work effectively with senior executives with excellent problem solving capabilities
