What will you do
The role of Business Development Director is to generate new business for the Maritime group in Australia and to synergise opportunities across business lines in Australia and the Pacific Region. The Business Development Director will seek and stimulate collaboration in a way that brings added value to clients and that positions RHDHV to recognise and capitalise on developing trends in the maritime sector. Having strong commercial acumen and mind-set is key to the success of this role.
Role Responsibilities Include:
Strategy – Organisation

  • Further develop and action the maritime strategy plan for Australia with a focus on the BL leading services
  • Develop local strategic partnerships to accelerate our digital agenda and to help clients achieve their aspirations
  • Create account plans and organise and monitor account development of identified global, regional and local key accounts specifically for the Australian maritime market together with the other BL business developers in Australia.
Get Work processes
  • Coordinate weekly BD alignment meetings with the maritime business developers in Australia
  • Coordinate / align BD activities in Australia with the Business Unit business developers in the APAC region and (global) account management
  • Help defining sales targets as part of the BL sales budgets
  • Manage market intelligence processes
Leadership
  • Take an active account management role for specified local key accounts
  • Support leadership (DAG, DBU, RD) in commercial decisions, and troubleshooting in client discussions
Alignment within RHDHV
  • Show personal leadership, seeking opportunities to develop business and ensure the support for collaboration on projects to the overall benefit of the company
  • Stimulate cross Business line collaboration on mutual (key) clients and align on hunting in packs on leading services
  • Liaise and collaborate with the (business developers of) other AGs of the Business Unit Water and Maritime in Asia Pacific with a drive to sell our regional expertise

What you bring
  • Degree in Business/Engineering or related disciplines
  • Minimum 10 - 15 years relevant working experience. Industry experience (engineering / construction, ports and shipping, defense and architecture) is highly desired.
  • Understanding of Maritime Engineering
  • An ample client network in the ports, maritime or engineering sectors.
  • Able to translate broad strategies into clear objectives and a practical action plan
  • Supportive leadership, proactive, enthusiastic and confident approach
  • Commercial mindset with an entrepreneurial hands-on approach
  • A team-player with the ability to multitask.
  • Able to take personal responsibility and use initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential; ability to communicate well with clients and senior management addressing issues and managing expectations
