We are seeking a dedicated professional to oversee a broad range of important functions. Effective and efficient delivery of strategic and regulatory land use planning services and related compliance are key responsibilities for this role. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing building certification services in line with regulatory frameworks, and ensuring community compliance with traffic and animal regulations. Additionally, candidates will manage the Council’s property portfolio, including Crown land, delivering customer services with positive feedback, providing environmental services that align with community aspirations (e.g. Lake Wyangan and catchment), ensuring public health and food safety compliance, overseeing timely and budget-compliant delivery of community infrastructure projects, and managing airport operations.
The Director Sustainable Development will report directly to the General Manager.This role involves collaboration with all Council work units.
Experience in dealing with and supporting elected representatives, and building relationships with key stakeholders. Corporate management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to represent Council at senior levels with various agencies, professionals, and the community. Leadership and team development skills, along with the ability to supervise and coordinate multiple work teams, contractors, and Council resources, are necessary.
Candidates should demonstrate extensive experience at a senior level in local government, with operational expertise in strategic and regulatory planning. A tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline is required.
