Who are we: ARAG Services Australia is a boutique Underwriting Agency specialising in Legal Expense Insurance. With a small team based in the Sydney CBD, we have an international footprint, with branches in over 19 countries, including the UK, Canada, and Germany.

Reporting to the CEO, this role will be responsible for sales and growth of an identified panel of intermediaries, which in our context refers to insurance brokers and agents, predominantly in NSW /ACT. They will drive product awareness and identify growth and strategic opportunities. The role would encompass the education and distribution of Commercial and Personal Legal Expense Insurance products and administration tasks.

Insurance industry experience, particularly in the sales or Business Development sectors, is desirable, but I am keen to hear if you have transferable skills from other industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities:
- Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, and other lead-generation activities.
- Working closely with our broker partners and the Underwriting (UW) team, which is responsible for assessing and pricing insurance risks, to develop opportunities that support mutual growth. Leveraging existing relationships by delivering education programs and product information sessions to assigned intermediary panels.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions to meet their requirements.
- Account management of assigned panel of intermediaries, including broker maintenance, which involves regular communication and support, and portfolio transfers, which refers to the process of moving insurance policies from one broker to another, and onboarding of new brokers/authorised representatives.
Sales and Revenue Growth:
- Achieve sales targets and KPIs set by the company.
- Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
- Achieve budgeted GWP and increase engagement for allocated intermediaries.
- Identify new growth opportunities outside of traditional markets.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement strategic Business Development plans to achieve individual and company goals.
- Collaborate with the Underwriting and marketing team to develop and execute essential product and scheme initiatives.
Market Analysis:
- Analyse market trends, competitors, and industry developments to inform strategic decisions.
- Provide insights and recommendations for new products, services, and market opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and Business Development efforts.
- Prepare regular reports on Business Development performance and progress.
About you
- Ideally, you have a background in sales in the insurance or financial services industry and understand the fundamentals. You should know basic terms and how the market operates and be able to write reports/emails to clients. Previous experience as an internal broker or development underwriter would be beneficial.
- We would also consider applicants currently in or have worked in a similar role in another industry, particularly if it involves sales, Business Development, or client relationship management. Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Business Development, sales, or a related field.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
Skills:

- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
