The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a key role within Nautical Shipping Multimodal Division. This role is responsible for improving the market share of the company; building key customer relationships; identifying business opportunities; negotiating and closing business deals; and maintaining an extensive knowledge of the current market conditions. The Business Development Manager also manages current client relationships, maintaining the expected service quality and effectively influencing repeat business.
• Capitalizing on warm leads as well as being a ‘hunter’ for new customers including sourcing and responding to tenders and BOCs.
• Establishing a customer base by proactively targeting key industries with the goal to secure new and repeat business.
• Managing existing customer relationships.
• Having a good understanding of markets, initiating customer contact to pursue and develop opportunities in local & regional areas.
• Negotiating rates with customers.
• Networking effectively within the industry to meet key contacts.
• Excellent communication skills - written and oral
• A minimum of 5 years industry sales and Business Development experience IE RO RO / Break Bulk / Project Cargo & Logistics Sales Background Preferred.
• An understanding of Cargowise One, would be beneficial.
