INCH Housing Inc. (INCH) is a Nationally registered Community Housing Provider operating in Brisbane Northside. 

INCH is a not-for-profit Incorporated Association and a registered Charity.

INCH provides housing services to people on low incomes and who have multi-complex circumstances. Most of our clients have experienced homelessness or were at very high risk of homelessness before obtaining a home with INCH. 

INCH’s housing services are provided in partnership with Queensland Department of Housing, Brisbane City Council and many government and community support organisations.

Job Summary

As a Business Development Officer (BDO) - Portfolio Growth in our property management department, you will play a key role in identifying and securing new rental properties for our low-income clients.   Your work will include:- implementing INCH’s property acquisition plan, marketing strategies and seek new partnerships and/or strengthening current partnerships with private investors, real estate agencies, property developers and others organisations related to private rentals.

A part-time fixed term position of 25 hours per week from May 2024 to end of December 2024. Flexibility days of work and/or daily hours can be negotiated, however they will need to meet the work requirements of the BDO's role and our Award industry terms. 

Salary range $96,970 - $101,250 pro rata of full time  - Social and Community, Home Care and Disabilities Award, Hourly rate dependent on your qualifications and experience.

The BDO – Portfolio Growth (TO), Job Purpose:

You will be working in a small business team with dedicated and passionate team members. You will be closely engaging with both Property and Tenancy Management senior staff when implementing your role.

You will be lead and be responsible for:

  • Obtaining housing stock within INCH’s Association’s aims and objectives. Also State Government contracts and guidelines, and other management agreements.
  • Develop and implement various marketing strategies to increase INCH’s business awareness and business growth in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
  • Use approved social media marketing tools.
  • Seek new partnerships with private investors, peak organisations, real estate agencies and other businesses related to housing services to secure new rental properties.
  • Deliver INCH’s presentations to relevant individuals, groups and organisations to increase INCH’s profile in the wider community.
  • Attend open house inspections for view suitable rental properties during INCH’s business hours.
  • Complete online rental applications for identified suitable rental properties
  • Meet property acquisition targets and KPI’s
  • Engaging with the Senior Property Manager to hand over newly sourced housing stock, to enable Property staff to development and implement all require contracts, with the new lessor to commence leasing arrangements, undertake inspections and letting procedures.

  • Previous work experience in increasing rental stock for organisation/agencies and/or increasing business growth. 
  • Experience in developing and implementing successful marketing plans to increase business profiles in the community. 
  • Demonstrated ability in successful liaisons with a variety of commercial, local businesses, government and community agencies.
  • Experience in various social media platforms.
  • An understanding of Residential Tenancy and Rooming Accommodation Act – 2008  and the Property Law Act  - 1974 relating to Headleasing Agreements.
  • Good communication skills – both oral and written skills. Ability to communicate well with clients, partner agencies, external government and community agencies and the wider community and the general community.
  • A friendly, open, approachable self- driven person who shares a passion for families/single people on low incomes to live in an affordable, safe and secure property that they can call HOME.
