Learn more .About the teamWe are currently seeking an experienced Senior or Assistant Manager, (Big 4 accounting firm favoured), CA qualified, to join our retail and property focussed industry team which sits within the BDO Business Services team and works closely with tax, advisory and audit.The team was set up three years ago and has grown significantly.The team requires a strong Senior or Assistant Manager with good accounting, tax and financial statement skills for compliance works purposes. Modelling skills will be highly regarded.Technically and commercially minded people are sought, as well as someone with an ability to build and hold strong client relationships.
BDO also provides strategic advice with respect to superannuation (including SMSFs), estate planning, asset protection, succession planning, philanthropy, structuring, and family office services which you will need to be cognisant.Responsibilities include:
- Part of the team who produce the strategic advice disciplines described above (including complex tax advice, M&A and due diligence engagements, commercial/industry advisory and benchmarking services)
- Prepare complex financial statements, consolidated financial statements and Income Tax Returns
- Preparation and analysis of complex management accounting reports
- Assisting with the design, development and analysis of financial reporting models
- Conducting tax compliance reviews of tax returns, FBT returns, GST and Payroll tax
- Advising on tax planning issues, implementing tax planning and savings ideas for clients across large group client structures
- Mentor and coach junior and intermediate team members
- Achieves successful outcomes through clear and effective communications and the ability to relate to others
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Very strong commercial skills with high levels of wider business acumen
- Good problem-solver
- Good understanding of legal research, interpretation and application
- Able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, and ability to explain complex issues simply
- Self-driven and assumes responsibility and accountability
- Collaborative and solution-focused
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong digital skills including a good working knowledge of MS Office applications, cloud accounting platforms and add-ons
- Willingness and ability to bring new ideas to the table
- Accounting, taxation and some advisory experience is essential to your success in this role
