Talent International is currently recruiting for a Business Support Officerto work for one of our Federal Government clients based in Sydney. The position is a 9-month contract with the possibility of extension and are paying between $41.38 to $52 per hour + super.
Key Accountabilities:
- provide business, administrative and project support and assist Managers in the unit to complete various activities associated with regular organisational reporting plus other project and administrative work, including coordinating meetings, preparing minutes and agenda papers for meetings, arranging venues, catering, refreshments and ordering of office supplies and uniforms.
- draft basic correspondence, memos, presentations and reports with regards to various matters as requested and follow up items or issues, sourcing information, filing, preparing correspondence, agenda and minutes, coordinating activities to meet deadlines and other office tasks as required.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the Business Improvement Team by maintaining administrative systems of the team including the team's email inbox, preparing meeting agendas and minutes and updating task and project status reports.
- establish and maintain an effective filing system to ensure that all records are correctly and efficiently stored on Council's recording systems having regard to the principles of good customer service and accessibility and availability to the Division's customers and the public and ensure that Council's statutory responsibilities relating to the provisioning of services and information are complied with.
- Create and revise business forms and maintain the the client's Corporate Forms Register;
- ensuring compliance with legislative, industrial and Council policy requirements and standards in the areas of Equal Employment Opportunity, Workplace Health and Safety, and Rehabilitation.
Essential knowledge, skills & experience:
- Relevant tertiary (TAFE, University, etc) qualifications in office management, accounting or bookkeeping, such as a relevant diploma, certificate or degree, or experience in business administration.
- Demonstrated experience in office management and organisation including the provision of clerical and administrative support services
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide clear and concise written and verbal advice/information, interact with a broad range of staff and external customers.
- Maturity, flexibility, discretion and judgement, and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of issues.
- Project management skills including the ability to research and provide appropriate responses to address issues at hand with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to balance competing priorities, work to deadlines and to respond in a flexible manner to work requirements noting the requirement to provide support for multiple levels of management and colleagues in a busy team.
