Capital Works Planner

Permanent - Up to Full Time

Location: Morwell

Salary Range $91,663.12 to $99,412.18 (pro rata - if part time) plus 11% superannuation

Department: City Assets

About this Role

In this role, you will ensure the civil, building, and recreational works program's projects are well founded, properly scoped, and ready to deliver to ensure success of the annual programs. 

This position is offered as a full time opportunity with flexibility to work 4 days per week if preferred. 

The position objectives include:

  • Support the department in the development and management of various asset management and project management processes and strategies.
  • Support the Asset Planning team with Life Cycle Analysis of asset classes and the lifecycle modelling of the asset portfolio.
  • Deliver or assist with the delivery of minor or unique projects as assigned.

About You

For this role, we are seeking someone with demonstrated experience in the development of a Capital Works program within the Local Government industry or equivalent and experience in asset management regarding condition assessments, life cycles of assets and management of asset data.

You will need:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience with demonstrated knowledge of Capital Works programs and budget development.
  • Good contract supervisory skills and ability to work as part of a team and develop a good internal working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and analyse design options, clearly write and review technical specifications and prepare Contract documentation
  • Proven ability to exercise professional independent judgement to make technical decisions relating to projects in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to negotiate with and influence internal and external stakeholders, providing sound written and verbal advice to ensure project activities and stakeholder needs are achieved
  • Current drivers' licence

The following skills and experience are highly desirable but not essential:

  • Additional studies relating to municipal engineering and management/finance is desirable.
  • Experience in local government asset management is desirable.
  • Competency in the use of 12d and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge, understanding and competency in the use of civil engineering design and drafting software for personal computers.
  • Competency in engineering design within Council policy, environmental factors, community needs and budgetary constraints
