About the role
Captain Starlight is a superhero from Planet Starlight who delivers happiness to children in hospitals, clinics, and remote communities across Australia. Our Captains are experienced performers, trained to use play, creativity and social connection to support children in some of their toughest times and to positively transform their health care experience.
Captain Starlight programs reach every major children’s hospital in Australia and this innovative program was developed in partnership with leading health professionals to complement the Australian healthcare system to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of sick kids.
As Captain Starlight, you will:

- Become the best performer you can be - we offer performance workshops with renowned industry professionals and the opportunity to participate in a week of Learning and Development in another Starlight Express Room of your choice.
- Be part of an incredible, diverse team of over 160 talented actors and performers, each with their own networks.
We’re currently recruiting for casual team members to join the Westmead team. Our in hospital program operates 7 days a week and shifts are 7.5 hours a day.
Our Westmead-based Captains often have the amazing opportunity to support major fundraising events across the state. This means you may attend media events such as - amazing opportunities to stretch your presenting skills and bring the Captain Starlight fun to the public!
About you
To #SHINE as a Captain:
- You have experience and training in acting, theatre, theatre-making, music, musical theatre, standup, improv or clowning as these skills are a must!
- You’re a master of quick-thinking, reading a room and delivering exceptional experiences in a safe, imaginative, and entertaining way.
- You’re authentic and playful and thrive when working with others.
