Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) Caseworker to join a small team. The OOHC Caseworker will be responsible for providing comprehensive support and advocacy for children and young people placed in out-of-home care arrangements. This role requires a strong commitment to safeguarding the well-being and promoting the positive development of children and young people under the care of the agency, within a foster or Kinship Care placement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and monitor placements for children and young people in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with foster carers, residential care providers, and other stakeholders to ensure the safety, stability, and well-being of children and young people in care.
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advocacy for children and young people to address their emotional, educational, health, and social needs.
- Facilitate contact arrangements between children and young people in care and their families, ensuring the promotion of positive relationships and family connections.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, records, and reports in accordance with organizational standards and statutory requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional development and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
- Will consider applicants with a Diploma in Community Services with prior OOHC case management experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and frameworks pertaining to child protection and out-of-home care.
- Strong assessment, case management, and crisis intervention skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment with a high degree of professionalism and empathy.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (where applicable).
- WWCC & national police check.
