Job description

Our client in Belmont is looking for a Cashier to cover the busy rates season.

The assignment is to provide an efficient cashiering facility to the customers, process general customer enquiries with Rates and Charges etc, receive payments and issue receipts for cash, EFTPOS and cheques received at the counter/front desk. Good Customer Service skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and groups.
 
Pay Rate: $45 per hour (inc casual loading)
Duration: approx 8 weeks
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm (1 hour lunch)
 
Duties: 

  • Process general customer enquiries in regard to Rates and Charges etc and refer to the relevant section as appropriate.
  • On a daily basis, receive payment and issue receipts for cash, EFTPOS and cheques received over the counter, via mail and from other sections of the City.
  • Check remittance lists daily and resolve any queries.
  • Allocate and receipt cash and cheques received to correct funds.
  • Balance takings for all cashiers to cashier reports and cash receipts summary on a daily basis.
  • Write up bank lodgement and deposit books.
  • Enter Bonds into the Trust Ledger.
  • Run off bank listing of cheques.
  • Reconcile daily takings with receipts and the cash register summary and maintain accurate records for audit purposes.
  • Prepare the summary sheet and fund break-up summary.
  • File cash register summaries daily.
Requirements
Essential
  • Previous relevant experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and groups to ensure delivery of a high level of Customer Service.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated numeracy skills, with a proven ability to apply good attention to detail and complete duties to a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and good judgement when required.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, both as a member of a team and individually with minimal supervision.
  • Sound written communication skills.
  • Ability to utilise office based computer systems and in particular, the Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last twelve months).
