Job description

  • Casual role till Dec 2024 (ad-hoc; approx. 3-5 hours per week)
  • Hourly rate $40.33 per hour plus 11% super

About the Role

The LGBTQIA+ International Student Project Officer role is supported by Victorian Government through the Healthy Equal Youth (HEY) program. RMIT Training has received funding via the HEY grant program to deliver the Rainbow International Students Project in 2024. This project will entail a series of monthly social events for LGBTQIA+ International Students across Melbourne (including those from institutions other than RMIT). These events are intended to facilitate social connectedness and improved mental health and wellbeing amongst LGBTQIA+ International Students.

The LGBTQIA+ International Student Project Officer will lead the planning, delivery, and promotion of the project. They will be supported by staff in the Wellbeing and Student Experience teams, in particular the Manager Student Experience and the Student Counsellor, and other RMIT Training teams as required, e.g. Communications, Facilities, etc.

About You

To be successful in this position you will have:

Essential
  • Lived experience and/or a deep understanding of the LGBTQIA+ community will be highly regarded.
  • Lived experience as an International Student, and insight into the specific challenges, needs and sensitivities of international LGBTQIA+ students in Australia.
  • Experience using social media for promotional purposes, and/or other experience in advertising, promotion, or marketing.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
 
Desirable
  • Experience in events management and delivery.
  • Strong administrative, time management and organisational skills and the ability to work cooperatively, productively, and flexibly in a team environment.
  • Strong communication, networking and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people.
