As a Road Maintenance worker you will:
- Carry out repair works to roads and associated infrastructure, including maintenance activities such as patching gravel & sealed roads, repair of drainage pits, pipes and streets, grass slashing, weed spraying and tree pruning and removal.
- Operate minor plant and equipment such as hand tools, chainsaws, hand and ride on mowers, line trimmers.
- Competently operate other plant and equipment within capability and competency.
- Install and maintain street signs and road furniture.
- Participate in road patrol activities/works as directed
- Adhere strictly to safe work practices and be aware of and implement OH&S requirements.
- Lift heavy articles within OH&S and general safety policies and manual handling guidelines.
- Participate in the formulation of Job Safety Analysis and Risk Assessments for each project or task and follow establish Safe Work Method Statements for both physical works and plant.
- If applicable, carry out regular routine maintenance of allocated plant and equipment in accordance with manufactures recommendations or as directed and report regularly to supervisor on plant condition.
- Assist to ensure that all road-works signage code of practice and regulations are observed in the work zones.
- Participate in after-hours works as requested.
There is no closing date on applications, but employment would usually be on an ad-hoc basis, occasionally longer during peak season works such as spring and major work programs over the summer period.
