An exciting opportunity exists for a Catering Manager to oversee the Catering Department at Brisbane Private Hospital, our busy kitchen delivers 15,000 meals a month to our patients. Enthusiastic individuals who can demonstrate proven experience in a management role, a commitment to patient care and customer service are invited to apply.

Reporting to the Support Services Manager, you will be required to provide leadership and direction to the Catering Department to compliment the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the hospital. The Catering Manager will be responsible for the day to day running of the Department including Staff management, staffing using a computerised rostering system, Ordering, Food Safety, Quality and Function Management

Brisbane Private is a 181-bed Private hospital with 17 operating theatres, surgical, medical and rehabilitation units, ICU and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. Conveniently located above the Roma Street Parklands, specialist services include neurosurgery, orthopaedics, spinal, plastics, urology, ENT, Rehabilitation, General surgery and delivery of Brisbane’s leading private drug and alcohol programs from Damascus Health Services.

As a Catering Manager your responsibilities will include:

·        Deliver effective leadership and people management to the Food Service team, including Chefs, Cooks and Food Service Assistants, ensuring that all rostering, recruitment, and compliance needs are met.

·        Demonstrate cost effectiveness by ensuring timely processing of invoices, management of purchasing and stock control .

·        Act as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team by promoting a positive team culture, supervising and providing guidance to kitchen staff, and by liaising with dieticians and other staff to create an experience that makes a difference.

·        Demonstrate professional practice by working according to Healthscope’s policies and processes, code of conduct and by participating in yearly performance appraisals and mandatory education. Maintain skills and standards of customer service and ensure patient confidentiality and privacy are maintained at all times.

·        Supports Healthscope’s safety and quality improvement and achievement of accreditation by actively participating in team meetings, quality and audit activities, and ensuring compliance with and participation in the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards.

Selection Criteria:

·        Cert IV in commercial cookery

·        Food Safety Supervisor & HACCP Certifications

·        Advanced diploma in Hospitality Management (Desired)

·        Extensive experience in the food services sector, including function management

·        Developed people management skills including rostering , performance appraisals and conflict resolution

·        Experience and demonstrated skills in a management role within a health care or similar environment.

·        Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

·        Passion for delivering outstanding service to our patients.
