We're looking for a warm, vibrant, hard-working Assistant Manager to join our team to help us continue developing our cafe space, and maintain excellent communication with our catering clients.
As the Front-of-House Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, managing a team of service staff, and maintaining the overall efficiency and profitability of the business. This role requires high-level organisational, leadership, and interpersonal skills, and impeccable professionalism. Responsibilities:
Customer Service Excellence:
- Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests.
- Oversee the training and development of staff to ensure they consistently deliver high-quality service.
- Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
Team Management:
- Train and supervise front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts/hostesses, bartenders, and baristas.
- Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and promote staff morale.
Operations Management:
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure seamless coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
- Maintain inventory levels for front-of-house supplies, including beverages, cutlery, crockery, packaging, coffee beans, milk, and other related items.
- Monitor and control operating costs and expenses, including labour, supplies, and equipment.
- Implement and enforce health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
Menu Development and Promotion:
- Work closely with the kitchen team to develop menus that align with customer preferences and dietary requirements.
- Collaborate with the baristas to curate a quality coffee program, ensuring the highest standards of coffee preparation and presentation.
- Create strategies to promote menu items, coffee specialties, and promotions to drive sales and enhance the dining experience.
- Gather customer feedback and make recommendations for menu improvements and changes.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the catering and/or restaurant and café industry.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proven track record of providing exceptional guest experiences.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the capability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Exceptional organisational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to prioritise and delegate effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with staff, customers, and suppliers.
- Sound knowledge of food safety and health regulations, as well as experience in maintaining compliance.
- Proficient in computer systems, including point-of-sale (POS) software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Barista experience and knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and specialty coffee is highly desirable.
- Flexibility to work other shifts as required.
Roster
- Tuesday to Friday 2pm-8pm
- Saturday 7am-1pm
- In your first 1-2 months of employment you will need to be available to work some time between 6am-2pm on a few weekdays to become familiar with the core operations of our business and receive adequate training for the job.
