About the role
Army General Service Officers are allocated to specific roles shortly before graduation from the Royal Military College - Duntroon. The allocation of roles is based on performance during training.
The mission of the AACC is to provide deployable catering support to Australian Force Elements (FE) in order to provide the commander with a nutritionally sustained force.
As a GSO in the AACC you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
• Commanding a catering platoon
• Providing technical catering and nutritional support advice to commanders and staff
• Developing and implementing food safety and catering operational support plans
• Operational logistics planning for major exercises, international engagements and civil assistance or humanitarian aid missions
You will gain a thorough understanding of the Army’s logistics procedures, and in later years be employable across a broad range of roles and appointments such as operations officer, second in command, company commander, staff officer or instructor.
A Bachelor’s degree is not required, however is highly desirable. Previous food safety or nutrition knowledge is not required. AACC Officers will complete a Graduate Certificate in Human Nutrition as part of their employment to give you the necessary knowledge. Selection for AACC is not guaranteed at RMC-D (competitively selected).
