Catering Officer

The role of the Australian Army Catering Corp (AACC) is to provide specialist catering support to the Australian Army on operations, exercises and within specified barrack locations. AACC personnel are responsible to commanders for preparing, cooking and serving nutritional meals to sustain personnel as required across all operational environments and threat levels. This includes the provision of technical advice for all aspects of nutritional sustainment of the force including contracted catering service providers, procurement and management of rations and ancillaries, implementing and maintaining food safety, optimising feeding methodologies, augmenting the provision of amenities and the operation of non-public monies accounts.

The mission of the AACC is to provide deployable catering support to Australian Force Elements (FE) in order to provide the commander with a nutritionally sustained force. 
As a GSO in the AACC you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

• Commanding a catering platoon
• Providing technical catering and nutritional support advice to commanders and staff 
• Developing and implementing food safety and catering operational support plans
• Operational logistics planning for major exercises, international engagements and civil assistance or humanitarian aid missions

You will gain a thorough understanding of the Army’s logistics procedures, and in later years be employable across a broad range of roles and appointments such as operations officer, second in command, company commander, staff officer or instructor.
