The Opportunity
CDMN are currently seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join their team. This is a newly established permanent part time position that will be contracted to work 22 hours per week. Flexible work arrangements are able to be supported after an initial training period.
The Volunteer Coordinator will oversee the entirety of CDMN's volunteer program which will lead the recruitment and retention efforts and ensure volunteers are matched with projects that align to their strengths.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential for this role, along with a genuine passion for community service and assisting others. In this capacity, the role will offer training to volunteers, enhancing their understanding of needs and discerning available opportunities with insight and maturity.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to overseeing Volunteer activities across CDMN.
The Volunteer Coordinator will administer all aspects of CDMN’s volunteer program including recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers.
This position also plays an important role in providing focus on developing best practices through engagement and ongoing development of their highly valued volunteers.
The incumbent commits to working within Work Health and Safety guidelines and Code of Conduct at all times whilst in the employ of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, in the not-for-profit sector or a community based organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in coaching volunteers (or candidates).
- An intrinsic passion for giving back to the community and helping others.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation of work
- Ability to exert good judgement, lead recruit and retention of volunteers and match them to projects suited to their skills.
- Good marketing skills for increasing CDMN mission awareness.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A qualification in Human Resource Management (highly regarded but not essential) or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
