The Mornington Peninsula is home to our winery and flagship vineyard Capella, but winemaking spreads to our fully-owned and organically-farmed vineyards across the country, from Barossa Valley to Tasmania. The Venue Manager is a senior role within the Handpicked and House of Arras Team reporting to our Sales & Marketing Director. The role responsibilities include:
- Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Cellar Door
- Providing an exceptional customer experience with the aim to increase wine sales and business revenue in line with the Handpicked Wines and House of Arras brand strategy
- Day to day running of the venue as well as driving corporate, event and wine subscriptions with the overall promotion of the Cellar Door as a premium experiential venue
- Event planning and execution, seeking opportunities to host events at the Cellar Door to drive traffic and build brand awareness
- Working closely with the Handpicked and House of Arras Wines Marketing Teams on creative planning including content marketing, digital marketing and social media and with winemakers on wine release timing
- Team mentoring, training and motivation is an important part of the role as is general venue management
- Forecasting, budget reporting, sales analysis, menu planning, purchasing, staff recruitment and rostering, and collaboration with your team to provide innovative solutions to ensure a premium customer experience
The successful applicant will:
- Be hands-on, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial and energised by being part of a ground-breaking concept in the wine industry and motivated by meeting objectives
- Thrive in a fast paced hospitality environment, be organized and have the ability to handle stress
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trends
- Proven experience in people management
- A sound knowledge of wines, and the skills to share this passion with the team and the guests is essential. WSET certification or similar is desirable.
- You will have strong skills using Microsoft office with proven experience in managing events or premium venues.
- Valid RSA, work visa/citizenship and the ability to work weekends and evenings as needed, as is being physically fit, capable of lifting cases of wine and general stock, cleaning and assisting with general housekeeping duties as required.
