ABOUT THE ROLE
Karnet Prison Farm is a high production prison within the department’s estate. Karnet produces and/or supplies all the meat, milk, and eggs to all the prisons, workcamps and juvenile facility across Western Australia. In addition Karnet provide apples, pears, plums and mandarins from the orchard and fresh produce such as lettuce, cucumbers, pumpkins and herbs and honey for the estate.
Karnet Prison Farm is seeking a Chef Supervisor to turn this fresh produce into nutritious products and meals in its commercial kitchen for approximately 400 lunch and dinners per day. The kitchen provides on the job instruction, accredited training, and a constructive workday for the prisoners. If you enjoy sharing your extensive catering knowledge and providing an environment to learn and develop new skills, and the unsociable hours common in the industry no longer suit, this may be the position for you. The Chef Supervisor VSO4, leads three Chef Instructor VSO3 and has a prisoner workforce.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Certificate IV in Hospitality (with Commercial Cookery or Catering or Kitchen Operations speacialty) or;
  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or;
  • Certificate IV in Catering Operations
  • Current valid manual "C" motor vehicle driving licence
  • Current valid Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) accreditation (or equivalent) received from an accredited training provider with a minimum of 12 months validity remaining
Subsequent Vacancies
