The Australian Community Industry Alliance (ACIA) supports community service providers across disability, personal injury, and aged care, to meet the quality and service needs of clients living independently and in the community. They are looking for an experienced leader to provide hands-on strategic and operational leadership to achieve ACIA’s strategic plan. Reporting to a strong and cohesive Board, ACIA is well positioned to enact this plan and seeks a driven, enthusiastic CEO to lead the organisation into its next chapter.
About the organisation
ACIA is Australia’s peak body in quality and safeguarding for the community services industry, focusing on quality management and governance across disability, personal injury, aged care, and community care. ACIA is the scheme owner for the Australian Community Industry Standard (ACIS). ACIA’s goal is to provide a framework and resources for the community services sector, to support and advocate for the needs of vulnerable people in care.

Key objectives of the role
To provide effective leadership and guidance to achieve the strategic plan
To lead, build, and empower a small, high-performing team
To manage Australian Community Industry Standards and associated processes
To ensure ACIA member services are professionally managed, maximising member growth and retention
To represent and advocate for the Community Services industry
To ensure ACIA presents a strong and positive voice to members and the community
To ensure ACIA remains up to date on all disability, personal injury, and aged care developments, directions, and best practice
To develop and grow sources of funding
To ensure effective delivery of ACIA’s obligations
To develop and maintain financial responsibilities
Knowledge, skills, and competencies
Previous senior management experience within community support services and/or personal injury insurance is essential
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., nursing, disability, allied health, personal injury)
A post-graduate certificate in management or business would be beneficial
Demonstrated knowledge of community services industry and their role in providing services in the personal injury, disability, and aged care industries/schemes
A thorough knowledge of contemporary corporate governance
Experience in issues management, policy development and advocacy
Previous experience of leading and managing a team
Demonstrated experience of strategic and operational planning
Previous experience of working with a Board of Directors
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to consult and influence key stakeholders
