The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is a rapidly growing area and will likely see the population almost double to over 30,000 people by 2036.
The area is known as the top tourist and holiday destination in WA, for its world class surfing and coastline, as one of the premium wine regions in Australia, a thriving agricultural and dairy sector, and the home for nature lovers and bush walkers. The area is rich in Aboriginal culture and early settler history.
Description
The successful candidate will have a passion for community engagement and collaboration, along with a strong understanding of social, environmental, and economic issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to the organization, guiding the development and implementation of policies and initiatives that align with the vision and values.
- Continue to establish a high-performing executive and management team dedicated to actively engaging with the community.
- Foster collaboration and partnership with stakeholders, including Council, community organisations, businesses, and residents, to address local challenges and opportunities.
- Oversight of sustainable planning and urban design, with an emphasis on genuine community engagement.
- Oversee the management of resources, including budgeting, financial planning, and human capital, to ensure effective and efficient operations.
- Champion initiatives that promote social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic growth within the region.
- Uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of the Shires activities.
Profile
To be successful in the role the Shire of Augusta Margaret River is looking for:
- Previous executive level experience in Local, State or Federal Government or a not-for-profit organisation.
- Highly developed strategic thinking, conceptual and analytical skills with a strong focus on values-based organisation performance.
- A proven record of positive organisational change management and cultural transformation.
- Experience in constructively and proactively engaging with diverse communities.
- Experience and knowledge to drive continuous improvement and achieve outstanding frontline services.
- Contemporary skills and experience in the management of physical and financial resources, budgets and other assets.
