Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Langford Aboriginal Association (LAA) is committed to improving opportunities and outcomes for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As per the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) Section 50(d) this position is only open to Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
This position, based at LAA in Langford, is full time (5 Days per week with some commitments after hours), a 3-year fixed term contract (with an option for extension based on performance) is being offered. Upon commencement a probationary period will apply.
CEO Package
o Salary by negotiation circa $130,000 - $150,000 depending on qualifications and experience

ABOUT LAA:
For over 20 years LAA has implemented culturally appropriate initiatives, programs, and services to meet the needs of Aboriginal peoples and families living on ‘Wadjak Noongar Boodja’ and regional areas of WA.
LAA is now looking for a talented CEO to lead and guide the operations of LAA in the delivery of our Strategic Plan.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The primary objective of the CEO is to lead and promote the work of LAA and to deliver on the aspirations of the organisation as set out in our Strategic Plan.
The CEO will demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills in managing, strategising, planning, and delivering LAA’s objectives including oversight and development of policies, procedures, tenders, submissions, fundraising, and reporting.
This is a key role in ensuring the organisation functions effectively and efficiently for the benefit of the community and LAA members. This role works closely with the LAA Board at a strategic level to develop and deliver services that align to our strategy.
The CEO is expected to effectively engage with the local Aboriginal community, key partners, stakeholders, and the Board in designing, delivering and responding to community needs.
Chief Executive Officer candidates will be required to demonstrate:
- Strong effective leadership capability and style
- Cultural responsiveness in working with Aboriginal peoples.
- Experience in Management or similar role.
- Experience of working with and supporting a Board of Management including preparation of AGMs, Annual and Audit Reports.
- Ability to build and maintain positive and productive networks and relationships.
- Experience in performing a variety of management and administrative tasks with high attention to detail.
- Competence in managing programs, events, deadlines, and finances with multiple program and budget constraints.
- Experience working effectively and building strong teamwork.
- Sound professionalism, judgement and to act with confidentiality.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office suite / MYOB software)
- Understanding of Human Resource and contract management,
- Success in applying and receiving grants and external funding, and
- Report writing.
The position also requires someone who:
- Is able to work autonomously and is reliable and punctual.
- Is flexible, adaptable, and willing to work in a dynamic and high pressure environment.
- Has the ability to pass pre-employment medical including Drug & Alcohol test.
- Holds a current National Police Check (or ability to obtain).
- Holds a valid Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain), and
- Holds a valid Open/ Unrestricted WA C Class Licence.
