Our client is an established not-for-profit organisation in the Cairns region, committed to delivering a range of housing, family support and financial services to the community. Their objective is to eliminate homelessness and help families on their path to a secure future.
The Opportunity
As the Chief Executive Officer, you will provide strategic leadership and drive the organisation’s vision, whilst overseeing day-to-day operations. Working closely with the Board of Management, you will develop and manage effective implementation of the Strategic Plan. Your responsibilities will reach across all aspects of the organisation’s operations including corporate governance, financial and risk management, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, growth and human resources.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership, drive, and vision in implementing the Strategic Plan;
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organisation and ensure its overall successful long-term operation;
- Organise, motivate, and mentor internal leaders to strategically grow the organisation’s impact, programs, revenue streams and to effectively fulfil its mission;
- Maintain regular and ongoing communication to build strong relationships with the President and Directors;
- Attend all Board meetings and provide concise and timely reports and updates as required;
- Be responsible for maintaining sound financial practices and policies;
- Work with the leadership team to develop and present an annual budget;
- Present in-depth financial analysis and reporting to the Board as required;
- Contribute to the growth and diversity of revenue streams;
- Foster and strengthen ongoing relationships across all stakeholder groups including government, industry and other not for profits;
- Develop and maintain a strong positive brand for the organisation.
- Knowledge and experience of NFP sector, particularly in the social, community and/or homelessness sectors;
- Media savvy;
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business, social policy or similar;
- The ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment and accurately manage high levels of data;
- Seasoned professional with an extensive understanding of and ability to advocate, develop and build stakeholder relationships, government grants and contracts and the workings of government department;
- Proficiency in application of Microsoft Suite, particularly Word and Excel;
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
- Results driven, with excellent time management skills;
- Self-motivated with a continuous improvement and solution focused mind-set;
- Current C Class Driver’s License and Blue Card.
