Our client is seeking to engage a Chief Finance Officer on a contract for 3 months, with potential extension.
The primary responsibilities for this position are to:Consolidate and interpret financial data from various cost centres to ensure that accurate and timely business information is presented to management for timely decision making;Deliver timely and accurate monthly management reports, including detailed monthly reports for project teams;Oversee the production of Financial Statements; and
Provide briefings and advice to the Minister, Executives and Managers on financial and budget related issues.Review and input into relevant financial sections of budget business cases
Critically review planning, budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure alignment and delivery of overall financial targets and strategic objectives;Partner with the leadership team in identifying / recommending and implementing business processes improvements;Represent MPC at whole of government committees and forums; and
Build, lead and manage a small team setting a clear vision, direction and culture of accountability. WHAT YOU REQUIRE: The following capabilities form the criteria that are required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Professional/Technical Skills and Knowledge:Demonstrated practical experience and leadership in financial and management accounting and/or financial planning and analysis.
Demonstrated experience in driving change and improving financial reporting systems and controls to support business operations. Demonstrated practical experience in business process improvements and adopting achievable modern accounting concepts. Behavioural Capabilities:Demonstrated capacity to lead and manage teams and maintain productive stakeholder relationships that is influential and collaborative in style.
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the Department and Major Projects Canberra Values framework, workplace respect, equity and diversity framework, workplace health and safety best practice and industrial democracy principles and practice. Compliance Requirements / Qualifications: MandatoryRelevant tertiary qualifications in a business, commerce or accounting related discipline. Highly DesirableCIMA, CPA or ICA membership is highly desirable.
