About the business and the role
Our client, who is involved in the property development industry, is currently looking to appoint a new Chief Financial Officer to oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial management and finance funding needs. The successful applicant will manage and work with their accounts team and report to the Managing Directors.
The Directors pride themselves on delivering high quality residential and commercial residential developments across both upcoming and established Canberra suburbs. Their master-planned communities lead the way in innovation, sustainability and design. They have a variety of sites across the region and the business continues to grow with the addition of new and exciting projects.
This role is advertised at $180k+ Package for the successful applicant.
Job tasks and responsibilities
The successful applicant will be required to focus on managing the company’s accounting, compliance and funding requirements in a role offering a wide variety of tasks and challenges including, but not limited to:
- Ongoing data input and management of financial systems;
- Financial management of monthly and year-end reporting;
- Report on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis and forecasting needs;
- Key involvement with sourcing, management and analysis of various forms of funding for projects including building strong relationships with all providers;
- Ensures credibility of finance reports to provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts;
- Working closely with associated staff to ensure goals and objectives are met in an efficient and professional manner;
- Monitoring and managing cash flow with regular reporting;
- Weekly payroll and associated HR responsibilities;
- Development of financial procedures and analysis;
- Monitoring compliance with internal policies and procedures;
- Identifying risks and making recommendations to amend as they arise;
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities; and
- Working closely with external stakeholders.
Skills and experience
Successful applicants will possess the following attributes:
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar CFO role with experience in the property development sector required;
- Have a strong working knowledge of GST and related tax issues applicable to the building industry;
- You will be CA/CPA qualified;
- MYOB and JobPac skills and experience preferred;
- Experience dealing with different providers of funding including financial institutions and investors; and
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders.
