Our client is an agile, mid-sized engineering services group embarking upon a high growth strategy. They are about to complete several sizeable acquisitions over the next 2-3 months which will materially grow the organisation. This represents a significant springboard for growth and a key milestone in delivering the future business strategy.
With the completion of the acquisition(s) imminent, they need to enlist the services of an accomplished finance executive to lead the group through the challenges of post deal integration and guide the harmonisation of people, culture, processes, and systems to ensure a seamless pathway forward. Having successfully embedded the acquisitions there is a clear need for a Group CFO to sit across the entire organisation and drive business alignment, consistency of approach as well as providing a commercial lens to delivering strategic and operational business decision making.
Hence, this exciting opportunity has two clear mandates:
Horizon 1: Initial 6-month contract
A high performing finance leader to lead the business integration activities and prepare the Group for the next phase of growth.
- Proactively support the integration of new business acquisitions including the corporate, financial, and operational consolidation
- Focus on removing duplication of processes across sites/divisions
- Identifying areas for cost optimisation during integration
- Securing and embedding all post-acquisition finance functions including reporting and cashflow management
Horizon 2: Long term Group CFO requirement
Transition to a commercially focused CFO partnering the CEO and ELT.
- Work with the CEO in executing the strategy through development and communication of business goals and supporting the CEOs in managing external and internal communications.
- Provide ELT and Board with the reporting and forecasting required to assess the Company’s financial position and support strategic planning.
- Provide financial and commercial guidance on all operational matters, contract negotiations, profitability improvement and new business opportunities.
- Debt covenant reporting to manage relationship with financial institutions.
Skills and competencies that you bring to the table:
- CPA/ CA Qualified with “hands-on” attitude and a natural curiosity to understand the business
- Business integration expertise able to unlock the inherent value and synergies through consolidating and streamlining people, culture, process, and systems.
- Manufacturing/engineering background preferred with understanding of project delivery, training and job costing impacts.
- Strong financial systems and automation skills to evolve the financial reporting and business information functions.
- Work effectively in a non-hierarchical structure with ability to provide constructive feedback and input.
