The successful candidate will be an experienced business professional with a proven track record in operations and finance. They will be flexible, agile, and comfortable with fast-paced, high-pressure environments, ensuring every task is tackled with a sense of urgency.
We are a small business that thinks big and achieves big results and at times the team juggle many hats to support the continuous growth and success of the company. We are seeking someone who is happy to roll up their sleeves and be hands on in all tasks (big or small). This is essential to this role.
About the Opportunity
We are searching for an experienced and results-driven CFO/COO to act as the right hand to the Managing Director. This role will oversee and manage strategic business objectives across our portfolio of companies, act as the conduit between the MD and business heads for reporting purposes and ensure the company meets its strategic goals.
As the business evolves and explores new opportunities, the successful candidate will perform detailed analysis to provide recommendations on attractive investment opportunities to support the MD’s decision-making process. They will also be responsible for overseeing the company’s finances and providing best practice methods to increase revenue and reduce costs across all business functions.
The selected person will:
- Oversee the management and financial reporting for all portfolio companies.
- Build complex financial models to determine feasibility of investment opportunities.
- Develop and review annual budgets and forecasts.
- Provide monthly variance analysis to budgets and forecasts.
- Present accurate financial results and insights to senior stakeholders in a timely manner
- Prepare and present decks to potential lenders, business partners or investors.
- Liaise with external accountants and lawyers on all tax matters to ensure compliance with financial, tax and other obligations.
- Conduct research and analysis for potential investment opportunities.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure the efficient and effective operation on the business
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency
- Set goals and priorities, establishing performance measures to ensure progress is being made
- Develop and mentor a high performing team fostering a culture of collaboration, initiative and accountability
- Identify opportunities for expansion and diversification in existing and new markets
Please get in touch if you have:
- At least 7 years finance experience in a Big4 and commercial environment, with 2 years in a similar leadership role. Experience within a family office would be highly regarded.
- Finance degree with further qualification either a CPA or CA
- Experience working with small businesses, internally or client-side.
- Advanced skills in Xero and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Exceptional skills at building complex Excel financial models for the analysis of business and property investment opportunities
We don’t work from home - The role will be based full time at our office in Moore Park – Entertainment Quarter.
