The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) leads the sustainable development of Western Australia’s regions and agriculture, aquaculture, food and fisheries sectors. About the Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, Corporate Services, you will undertake the role of Chief Financial Officer for DPIRD, the Rural Business Development Corporation and the Agricultural Produce Commission.
You will lead the department’s financial and procurement functions, including the development of strategic initiatives, corporate strategies and plans, and the implementation of government’s financial and procurement reforms. We have designed an exciting transformation program to deliver through a redesigned structure and a supportive executive and senior leadership team.
As a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) at DPIRD, you will contribute to the strategic direction and management of the organisation, driving culture, capability and change across DPIRD. This challenging and rewarding role provides an excellent opportunity for a proven values-based leader to develop their team and drive positive change in a complex and fast paced environment.
We are looking for a qualified financial professional with substantial knowledge of financial management practices and standards, including experience in a corporate financial, accounting and procurement environment. You will bring excellent financial management skills and experience, including financial accounting, budget management, financial strategy, procurement and policy formulation.
If successful, you will be offered a full-time Senior Executive Service contract for up to 5 years.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current membership of either CPA Australia as a Certified Practicing Accountant or the institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia as a Chartered Accountant
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance as conducted by the Department
  • A satisfactory Integrity Screening Check
  • To be available to perform duties outside of normal working hours
  • To be prepared to undertake occasional travel to and from metropolitan and Regional offices

Employment Conditions and Additional Information
DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
