Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leading property business based in Melbourne, Australia. This pivotal role demands a strategic leader who is not only adept at managing complex financial landscapes but also possesses a deep passion for driving efficiency and innovation within the sector. The ideal candidate will be an integral part of our executive team, responsible for steering the financial direction of the company and ensuring our continued growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the financial operations across multiple business units, ensuring robust accounting processes and financial management systems are in place and fully operational.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of current people, systems, and processes to identify areas for improvement, efficiency gains, and enhanced reporting capabilities.
- Spearhead large-scale development projects, from costings and budget management to overseeing return on investment calculations.
- Manage the acquisition and disposal of properties, ensuring strategic alignment with the company’s growth objectives.
- Provide strategic financial insights and guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers to the Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory law and financial regulations, with a strong focus on accounting standards and tax obligations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, problem-solving, and operational excellence within the financial team and broader organization.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Mandatory CPA or CA qualification, preferably backed by a Degree in Accounting or Business.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a CFO role, specifically managing financial operations within the property sector or similar industries.
- Proven track record of success in financial leadership roles, with extensive experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and team management.
- Exceptional knowledge of property investing, cost management, and project management, including the ability to manage large-scale development projects.
- Strong expertise in accounting, tax, and financial reporting, with a hands-on approach to managing general ledgers, reconciliations, and all aspects of financial oversight.
- Self-motivated, with a demonstrable ability to thrive in challenging environments and a passion for solving complex problems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and drive teams towards achieving shared objectives.
- The role is a hands-on role requiring experience and insights into lease management, outgoings recovery, management of leased properties and properties on behalf of property owners. The role requires and experience and understanding of amongst other things:

d) Reconciliation
e) Reporting monthly and End of Year
f) Tax
g) Division 7a Loans
h) Unpaid Present Entitlements
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position, requiring the successful candidate to work 5 days a week from our office located in Melbourne.
- The role involves overseeing various financial teams and interacting with different business units, necessitating a hands-on approach and willingness to delve into the details when necessary.
