The Chief of Staff manages the Vice-Chancellors oversight of strategic projects and initiatives, delivers strategic projects that are the responsibility of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, and provides institutional direction and leadership to support cross-functional coordination and implementation.
The role also leads the operations of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and has responsibility for managing the business of the Office and providing high-level strategic and operational support. This includes the provision of strategic and policy advice to the Vice-Chancellor and senior executive, leadership of university projects, and representing the Vice-Chancellor where appropriate. The position has a key role in directing and reviewing official media and internal communications released on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
To be successful you will have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence and the ability to effective liaise and provide high-level advice to senior management
- ability to lead, develop and motivate staff to optimise performance and deliver organisational objectives
- experience in the provision of effective strategic support at the senior management level, and managing matters with confidentiality, sensitivity and discretion
- experience leading strategic projects, researching complex issues, and high-level conceptual, analytical and numerical skills to resolve matters and interpret policies/trends
- highly developed problem-solving skills with the capacity to think creatively, act strategically, be flexible, establish priorities and work to competing deadlines

The day-to-day management of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor provides the first point of contact, issues management and diary management while delivering on the governance requirements of the Vice-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor's Leadership Team.
