About your new role:As Armidales Child and Family Health Nurse you will be engaged in a variety of essential tasks aimed at supporting both newborns and their mothers. Working 16 hours per week, over two negotiable days, the nurse will conduct health checks and immunizations for infants, as well as health assessments for mothers. The role includes providing education and support during the critical first 1000 days of a child's life. Key responsibilities will also involve offering emotional support and guidance, conducting necessary screening tests, and navigating challenging situations with sensitivity and care. Collaboration with the Armidale Child and Family Health Nurse will be crucial, ensuring comprehensive support for the families involved.
Success in this role is often attributed to personal qualities like a sense of humor and a deep passion for the wellbeing of children and mothers. The ability to offer unwavering support in difficult circumstances and perform necessary screening tests is essential. The team is small and close-knit, including professionals such as speech therapists and an Aboriginal liaison officer, creating a work environment where each member is recognized by name, not just a number.
